OBJECTIVE: To explore how educational innovations in social work education influence learning assessment processes and strengthen key professional competencies. METHOD: A documentary research approach was employed, involving the review scientific articles published between 2023 and 2025. These studies, selected for their relevance to the topics of educational innovation and learning assessment in social work education, included both qualitative and quantitative approaches. The sample consisted of academic articles from national and international sources. RESULTS: The findings reveal that the integration of active learning methodologies such as problem-based learning (PBL), portfolios, and active learning strategies significantly enhances students’ engagement and motivation. Moreover, the incorporation of technology fosters a more dynamic and participatory learning environment. However, challenges remain in the field of assessment, underscoring the need for innovative strategies that align with contemporary pedagogical approaches. CONCLUSION: Educational innovation and learning assessment in social work education are crucial for preparing professionals capable of addressing contemporary challenges in the field. This requires a shift towards more student-centered, competence-based pedagogical models and evaluation methods.
